Raja Cheruvu, MD, FACR, Named President of Windsong Radiology

Raja Cheruvu, MD, FACR has been named the new President of Windsong Radiology, succeeding Dr. Thomas Summers effective January 7, 2022. In his role, he will oversee Windsong’s radiology, interventional and vascular services and breast surgeryDr. Cheruvu has been an executive committee member at Windsong since 2018 and with over twenty years’ experience brings in-depth knowledge to his new role.

Cheruvu has been CT Section chief since 2009 and has served as the director of the low dose lung cancer screening and prostate MRI programs since their inception. As a volunteer faculty, Dr. Cheruvu has lectured medical students at D’Youville College, educating them on the vast array of diagnostic exams that will help them to determine treatment plans.

He was named a Fellow of the American College of Radiology (FACR) in 2021, an honor that is bestowed on ACR members who demonstrate a history of service to the American College of Radiology, organized radiology, teaching and/or research. This prestigious honor is only awarded to 15% of ACR members.

Prior to joining Windsong Dr. Cheruvu served as Staff Radiologist at Sheppard Air Force Base Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas. He received a Meritorious Service Medal as the first USAF radiologist deployed in a 160-member field hospital in Oman in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2002.

Cheruvu received his BA/MD in an accelerated 6-year program at Boston University and graduated summa cum laude. He completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas and his Fellowship at the University of California at San Diego.
