Abdominal and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

Abdominal and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

MSK ultrasound provides imaging of the body’s musculoskeletal system and abdomen, which includes hundreds of pieces – some very small – that work together to provide movement. Using ultrasound technology, MSK imaging generates quality pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and joints throughout the body. Radiologists use these images to help diagnose and provide treatment plans for a long list of conditions and injuries, like joint dislocations and ligament tears.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect?

Since MR Enterography requires contrast, you will drink several bottles of oral contrast material (about 50 ounces total) during the hour leading up to the exam. You will also have an IV started for injection of the second contrast material, as well as a medication that slows down the normal contractions of the intestines. This allows for the best possibly imaging quality.
