WINDSONG RADIOLOGY IN HONOR OF MOTHER’S DAY EVENT TO HIGHLIGHT IMPORTANCE OF ANNUAL SCREENING AND EARLY DETECTION
WILLIAMSVILLE – March 21, 2016 – An In Honor of Mother’s Day Reception will be held at Windsong P.C. on Tuesday, May 3rd at 5:30 PM at Windsong Medical Park at 55 Spindrift Drive in Williamsville. This free community event will highlight the importance of annual breast screening for women 40 and older.
“The recently published American Cancer Society (ACS) breast screening guidelines have caused significant confusion for many women,” said Dr. Anna Chen, Windsong’s Director of Women’s Imaging. In order to reduce the confusion Windsong invites mothers, daughters, sisters and friends to learn more about Windsong’s recommendations for breast screening. These breast screening recommendations mirror the Society of Breast Imaging and the American College of Radiology’s guidelines for women over the age of 40 to be screened annually.
“Windsong strongly encourages women to obtain the maximum life saving benefits from mammography by continuing with an annual screening schedule,” stated Dr. Anna Chen. “We have seen firsthand how annual screening for women age 40 and older can lead to early detection.”
WGRZ’s news anchor, Melissa Holmes, will also be on hand to introduce a distinct and dedicated group of women who have assisted with educating women throughout our community about the importance of annual breast cancer screening and the benefits of early detection. These Early Detection Champions and others like them are invited to sign the Wall of Early Detection Champions which will make its debut that evening.
Studies show that women with greater than average risk for breast cancer greatly benefit from the 3D mammography technology which can detect breast cancer in its earlier stages. Windsong continues its commitment to “personalized screening” which considers the breast density and risk of the patient. This screening method ensures the most advanced technology is offered to the patient based upon their personal history. This may include 3D tomosynthesis mammograms, ultrasound and/or MRI.
