Windsong in Williamsville is celebrating 25 years in practice (2/16/2012) as one of the largest and busiest outpatient imaging centers in the nation. What began as a one physician practice with five employees has developed into a 16 physician practice with 225 employees and five locations. Windsong has blossomed into a, comprehensive, multi-specialty radiology practice of Fellowship Trained and Board Certified Radiologists who specializes in Women’s Imaging, Neuroradiology, and Musculoskeletal imaging.
The first days of the practice began in a converted Pizza Hut on Harlem Road with its founder Dr. Janet Sung and her husband John with a desire to offer a new model for radiology. One in which the radiologist meets with the patient to give them their results while they are still in the office, and offers a more personal approach to patient care. Dr. Sung opened the practice offering mammography, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and X-ray in 1987. By 1993, the group outgrew the space on Harlem Road and moved to its present location on 55 Spindrift Drive in Williamsville. The practice added locations in Lancaster in 1989, West Amherst in 1997, West Seneca in 2003, and Hamburg in 2008.
Windsong has also become well known in Western New York and regionally for offering comprehensive oncology imaging including the first PET/CT, and most recently for offering the first and only Prostate MRI imaging and biopsies as well as the only 3D Digital Mammography also known as Breast Tomosynthesis.
