Job Title: Billing Supervisor

Works towards interdepartmental cooperation with the ultimate goal of excellent and efficient patient care by interacting with all departmental managers, Radiologists and other personnel to supervise and perform processes in alignment with organizational goals.

Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, team members, supervisors, managers and Radiologists.
Establish and maintain good rapport and a positive attitude towards all other departments, patients and referring physicians.
Ensure communication to team members of departmental updates and/or changes.
Oversee department workflow, adjusting where necessary based on priority of work, skills of team members and patient needs.
Coordinate and schedule team members to ensure proper coverage.
Evaluate the quality of patient care through observation of performance, assessments and patient comment card review.
Perform in team member role as needed.
Answer phone inquiries regarding open claims, set up payment plans as needed.
Sort, troubleshoot and audit secretarial and technologist errors.
Complete refund audit.
Analyze and review Aged Trial Balances, Process patient statements.
Process and review collection accounts.
Understand and keep abreast of insurance prior authorization requirements.
Understand and implement procedures following Medicaid and Medicare regulations.
Participate in candidate interview process for department.
Assist in developing new hire training plan and process for successful candidates.
Provide ongoing feedback to team members, including merit and disciplinary actions.
Make regular assessments of team members’ training needs.
Provide input for performance evaluations and merit bonus reviews.
Ensure consistent application and enforcement of all company policies.
Maintain adequate inventory of all departmental material/supplies and equipment.
Attend all necessary management meetings to keep abreast of overall company issues.
All other temporary and/or permanent duties as assigned by Administrator or Manager.
Adhere to and uphold all HIPAA and New York State regulations regarding patient privacy as well as standards of ethics set forth by Windsong Radiology Group.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or Associates degree with 2 years professional experience in medical billing; or 2 year business degree with 5 years’ experience in medical billing, including 2 years’ experience as supervisor.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to professionally communicate orally and in the written form.
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and effective time management skills.
Proficient in mathematics and medical terminology.
Awareness of other’s reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
Basic lifting as required, not to exceed 25 pounds.
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time with the ability to maintain concentration and attention to detail.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and Saturdays as well as ability to work additional hours as needed.
Position is in a well-lighted, fast-paced, clean medical office environment.
Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with the essential job functions such as stationary, mobility, operating machinery, convey and exchange information, identify, observe and /or positioning of patients.
Manual dexterity to operate standard office machines/equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line phones, photocopiers, fax systems and calculators. Stress can be triggered by multiple staff demands and deadlines.
